I’ve got a black double cat since 2006 and i still in love with her, the cuality of a “masterbuild” for less than 3000€. Simply the best factory guitar that you can buy nowdays
I mainly play 7-string but in case i want to play 6-string i got a Duesenberg Caribou. Very versatile guitar which works insanely well with all these unique special designed parts.
I just got a blue Dbl Cat and OMG! Fit and finish is superb. The neck, the neck the freakin neck is the most incredibly perfect neck I've wrapped my fingers on. I have about 20 electrics right now, tons of LPs, PRSs, Ibanezs, Yamaha RevStar, Gretch's, Sire Strat and Tele, D'Angelico and THIS IS THE BEST OF THEM ALL BY FAR. German perfection oozes out of her. It's a joy to play. Get one, get two or more. I'm saving for my Starplayer next.
Ok guys hairs standing up On the arms says it all ! Thank you 👍👍👍👍👍 Ps my wiggle stick was in the Guinness book of world records But the librarian made me take it out !
Hi Kris & Guillaume. I acquired a Doozy Senior 52 in 2012. It's a fantastic guitar ! 1 P90 (with 3 positions thanks to the wiring & cap). It has a thicker neck ('50s shape) and everything is just perfect. I had (and resold) a Starplayer TV because of the neck: a great guitar, but I coudn't play the neck that was too thin. These guitars deserve more attention. They have a lot of personality, fantastic quality/price ratio and the construction, parts, assembly are just awesome. Btw: their strings are great: very good sounding and durable.
People keep complaining about the pricetag. Please, just go and play one. You won't find a thing to complain about. Plus, their customer support is outstanding. I have a starplayer tv since 2020 and I love it. High end guitar, period. And it's not even my most expensive guitar lol.
They have a Drop Kick Murphys signature that look soooo nice. Love the colour on this model. And the first time I heard someone playing a Starplayer TV in this leather optic (which I didn’t like so much), I totally fell in love with that sound. Although probably 50% of that sound was the superb play of the guitar player. I would love to try one of their basses.
Reading between the lines, it seems that Duesies suffer from being just too perfect. We guitar nerds like guitars with flaws, Gibson intonation issues, uncomfy T-shapes....the right ones will know what I mean. Well, a strange bread we are, and Duesenberg deserves more attention rather than suffer from our denial to like perfection. Need to fight my Strat now, over and out 😏🖤🎸
Haha, that's a legit point actually. Much like Taylor acoustic guitars, Duesies don't give you that "sweet and lovable imperfection" vibe. That being said, many of us really doesn't care for that and want a flawless tool for making music. I mean, doesn't that make all the sense in the world? Haha! It's so good to have all these options. From vintage style mojo machines to consistently perfect modern guitars. What a treat. 🙌 //Kris
@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses Kris, indeed! I cover that perfection territory with some PRS axes, but gravitate in reality most times to the less perfect classic designs. Horses for courses 😉
Both guitars sound beautiful but the double cut is the one I like most for my ears. Nice chords guys, another nice video. Best regards from Romania 🇷🇴!
Their website says they are PUR Lacquer except for sparkle and pearloid finishes. I thought they were Poly too because of how shiny and perfect they are. I am really considering a Fullerton. After building a couple guitars, $3k seems like a good deal when you see the manufacturing process they use.
got a Falken Tremolo on my bucket list (Lieferbar in mehreren Monaten) My Starplayer TV Hollow is amazing - The pickup switch has a bespoke "clonk" which can be irritating if you're playing soft jazz gigs
I saw Dave Stewart playing a Mike Campbell signature at a Producers Guild Aftershow party about 7 or 8 years ago. That was enough for me. I couldnt find a Les Paul that I liked and the Gold Top Starplayer was what I'd been looking for. I've been very happy with it. I'd love a DoubleCat12, but cant justify it.
I agree about liking nitro finishes more, for sure. I prefer bigger necks, like you. But because the neck profile on my Duesenberg is a D, it doesn't feel small to me, it feels full. I love my Campbell model as shown here. I grab it almost as often as I grab my Tele and definitely more often than I grab my Les Paul, fwiw. Excellent guitar. I think PRS and Taylor "suffer" from the same problem of being super consistent and well put together right from the factory, and people actually take points AWAY because they're too perfect? I admit, that I used to fall into that thinking a little bit before I tried one, but I know that it's absolutely nuts!! lol My first break away from that thinking was when I got a Taylor 12 string. I had to admit that I was wrong, so I think I was then more open to other guitars with that "too perfect" reputation like PRS or Duesenberg. My Tele will probably always be my number one, but these guitars are fantastic and occupy a whole different space.
It's beautiful to look at, great to play, and sounds fantastic. I have one myself, but I got it in black instead of white. I'm glad I did. The white is perhaps just a bit TOO over the top flashy. Looks like a wedding guitar. But the piano black is just downright gorgeous. I have 60 guitars at this point, including all the big brands, but my Duesey is my favorite. I still use my Suhr Strat or my PRS, or a Gretsch or a Tele for various purposes. But I always come back to my TV Phonic for most things.
I had Duesenberg Rocket in Yin/Yan color, because it was the closest Scorpions Flying V back then. I traded it to Gibson Flying V, because it just sounded better to my ear. There wasn't nothing wrong with the Duesenberg, it just didn't sound like Gibson. But what I learned - Duesenberg quality is really good.
i own 2 Duesenberg : a Starplayer Special to replace my PRS CE24 (and the mission is accomplished, without any regrets !!!!). This is the guitar I take on reharsals. The second is a Falken, which replaces my Fender Strat Clapton and my Les Paul Studio Joe Bonamassa. The Falken is the perfect studio guitar, 4 single coils packed in 2 humbuckers, 8 sounds, I MEAN 8 REAL SOUNDS. The only 2 drawbacks I see on those guitars is the weight and the lack of belly cut/forearm rest. No problem when you play on stage, but a little uncomfortable when you play sit. I won't go back to another brand, it's 100% sure.... and 100% made in Europe !
The hardware ages quite nicely, though. I have a Starplayer TV, a Rocket and a 12-string Double Cat. Do yourself a favour and pick up a Duesenberg with a CrunchBucker in the bridge position, that really wants to go a lot more than the GrandVintage. I prefer the GrandVintage for most stuff, but for high-high-gain stuff, the CrunchBucker is much better.
Had 5 Starplayer TV in 12 years....and sold 5 !!!! Awesome guitar and the best trem system but too long scale on a LP body and too thin at nut for me . AWESOME GUITARS ! (1000 euros increase in 10 years is a bit abused 🥴). Cheers
I wish someone else would touch my wiggle stick when I’m bored with playing with myself… On a more serious note. I love the look of the guitars. Classy as can be, but the guitars have a too sterile vibe to me. Like a PRS. Do you get what I mean? Would be a delight to play a Fullerton tho. Where are the guitars made? Is it 100% made in Germany or is it Made In Korea and assembled in Germany?
There’s a thing called the internet & you can learn many things. Yes German made with German mechanical parts. You’re thinking of PRS, Gibson, & Fender
Damn it, my finances were safe for such a long time because I forgot how great those guitars are and how at some point I really wanted to buy one. Well they're not safe anymore... Thank you Guillaume and thank you Kris.. so much.. 😉
If I was a musician by profession I’d definitely get myself a Duesenberg. I’ve always loved the design and craftsmanship. But because I’m not, for me it doesn’t make sense to spend that much money on a single guitar. Maybe some day…
3k for a Korean made guitar, with some case candies added in Germany before shipping the pieces to the dealers ? Nope... Try to find the German Duesenberg factory tour video... There isn't one . At that price point I'd expect more ...
Korea? It's Croatia - this is in Europe. Here is the factory tour - Google and Duesenberg website would let you find it: ruclips.net/video/rpB3m-P2ZuQ/видео.html
